In Colorado, partisans can agree: don’t raise taxes on me!

By | September 27th, 2012

Voice of America recently published a video and online report titled, “Colorado Business Owners Divided About Presidential Politics.”

It attempts the even-handed approach of interviewing one business owner who backs Republican Mitt Romney and one who backs Pres. Obama. But when it gets down to taxes, partisans can agree.

Jared Jones of Codi Manufacturing in Golden, who favors Romney, blasts the effects of more regulation, higher taxes and “government-issued health care.”

Lorena Cantarovici, the owner of Maria Empanada in Lakewood, supports Pres. Obama. The report says her business got help from the Small Business Administration and notes that “Democratic plans to raise taxes are fine with her as long as they target those already making a lot of money.”

Raising taxes on her business, however, could lead her to “cut an employee.”
