Reason TV recently announced its “Nanny of the Month” winner: “The War on Lemonade Stands,” featuring Montgomery County, Md., which shut down a kids’ charity initiative and assessed a $500 fine (but relented once the refreshment stand was relocated nearby).
If that makes you sigh, this will make you cry: The Weekly Standard reports that stimulus spending since 2009…
“…has added or saved just under 2.4 million jobs — whether private or public — at a cost (to date) of $666 billion. That’s a cost to taxpayers of $278,000 per job.”
That could buy a lot of lemons.
