Pres. Obama: “There are easier ways to learn these lessons.”

By | November 3rd, 2010

“How do you respond to those who say the election outcome, at least in part, was voters saying that they see you as out of touch with their personal economic pain; and are you willing to make any changes in your leadership style?” Pres. Obama was asked today at a press conference. Here’s what he replied, in part:

“Now, I’m not recommending for every future president that they take a shellacking like I did last night. You know, I’m sure there are easier ways to learn these lessons. But I do think that, you know, this is a growth process. And an evolution.”

The evolution, we hope, is toward a more fiscally responsible federal government that defines its role more narrowly, cuts the bloat and extracts less taxes from the private sector, so IT can do its job of creating the economic prosperity on which we all depend.

But just in case that isn’t what the president meant, there will be at least 60 newly-elected Republican members in the U.S. House of Representatives (including two from Colorado, Cory Gardner and Scott Tipton) and at least six new U.S. senators in January as a reminder.
