How is that Xcel, Colorado’s largest energy utility, seemingly gets everything it wants – and very little it doesn’t?
Colorado state Rep. Shawn Mitchell, R-Broomfield, explained on Jon Caldara’s “Devil’s Advocate” TV show, how it happens at the state Capitol and who’s paying the price.
“Xcel had tremendous clout, but they didn’t do it alone,” said Mitchell. “I think there are two or three forces pushing the direction we’ve been going for the last several years. And that direction has been a relentless assault on consumers and driving up the costs of energy. There’s the extreme green lobby. There is the majority control – the Democrat control – of the legislature. And there’s Xcel Energy. And they’ve formed an unholy alliance to shove aside traditional affordable energy and to pursue more and more exotic mandates.”
