Unfocused: Pres. Obama losing swing voters in Colorado

By | June 15th, 2012

More and more, voters in the middle are inclined to take Pres. Obama up on his “one-term proposition.”

Tuesday night, “veteran Democratic pollster Peter Hart conducted a focus group featuring 12 undecided, ticket-splitting voters in Colorado, which illustrated the tough challenge President Obama faces in winning a second term,” reported The National Journal.

Obama won that group 10-2 in 2008, but including leaners, Republican Mitt Romney leads 5-3, with the others undecided.

“‘I got duped. I fell under his spell. What he’s done with the car industry is the only real success,’ said Patrick Allen, a 27-year-old health care consultant, who voted for Obama in 2008. ‘I feel like I was somewhat lied to.’

These are the voters he needs to win, but increasingly, it looks as though they’ve decided to fire him. If Gov. Romney can close the deal.

“PRESIDENT OBAMA IS IN TROUBLE!” is the headline of Hart’s memo, as published by The Denver Post. Economic concerns are key, writes Hart, but beyond that is the sense of a president adrift: “There is no roadmap, no program, and no conviction of where the President wants to lead the country.”
